Sulzer Marine Engines & Generators |
Perhaps better known for its contribution to the locomotive industry, Sulzer (est. 1834) is a Swiss engineering firm with a long history of marine diesel engine manufacturing, having built their first diesel engine in 1898.
Rudolph Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine, worked briefly with Sulzer in 1879.

In 1990 the company's marine diesel engine activities were spun off into New Sulzer Diesel (NSD) and then in 1997 NSD was absorbed by Finnish company Wärtsilä - creating Wärtsilä NSD. The amalgamation has yielded the Wärtsilä-Sulzer RTA96-C - the worlds largest reciprocating engine (pictured below).

Britannia Marine is able to supply a comprehensive range of new and re-conditioned Sulzer and Wärtsilä NSD engines and parts. We can also provide service engineers able to deal with most issues relating to Sulzer marine engines.
